The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment is implementing a flagship programme Crop Diversification Programme in Mega Lift Irrigation Project in the State of Odisha in cluster approach with an objective to diversify the upland & medium land paddy areas to different non-paddy crops. For custom hiring centre comprising of farm machineries, implements and equipment’s which is to be supply to the farmers on hiring basis to reduce drudgery to farmers as per the following objectives:

• Diversification from paddy to non-paddy crops with focus on pulses & oilseeds and Horticultural crops in upland/medium land in Kharif.
• Improving soil health through promotion of crops with heavy biomass and less chemical input requirement.
• Integration with Livestock and Fisheries.
• Cluster based promotion of post-harvest, primary processing, Value addition & Marketing through CBOs like FPOs/WSHGs/PPs Agri-entrepreneur.
• To create awareness, capacity building and community mobilization of farmers on sustainability of cropping pattern and diet diversification.

GPSS has established one PROCESSING AND VALUE CHAIN unit at Gada Govindapur village and GP of Digapahandi block comprising of the machineries as Mini Dal Mill, Cold pressed Oil Mill, Multy seed Cleaner, Maize Sheller, Groundnut decorticator and Pulverizer.
